From time to time. No.
What are your plans for the weekend?
Read, call a friend or two, play WoW, chill out, relax in bed, probably watch TV, play with my dogs, and be a good daughter.
Earlier I had a half-hour massage at Yamaguchi. My mom had the Trilogy Treatment I bought for Mother's Day.
Last night I spent a couple hours shopping at Borders, so I got lots of books to read.
Well, tonight's American Idol final was actually uplifting. It made me feel good. With all the craziness in the world today, wars, and U.S. imperialism and corporatism and basically the widening gap between rich and poor and slowly dissolving middle class in this country, it's just nice to see and hear the children sing. I was touched by several of the performances tonight. And Blake was just dope with his showcase. I felt like people were just people tonight, and the celebrities were human too. It was a rather sentimental final, but it also felt genuine. The only thing of course that wasn't so "cool" was the announcement of how many albums were sold, as if this was the reason for winning or becoming an Idol, to make a lot of money and sell a lot of product, it's like this whole thing is a race, a competition, which of course it is, but in every sense, in how many votes Fox drew in 70 million or so, the most votes worldwide, although in a true democracy only one person can vote at a time, right, and in how many records are sold, and how much money an artist makes, how much money people contribute to a cause but only when it's sponsored by a TV show and celebrities. And having one big cause like Darfur shows how compassionate we Americans are and we're really altruistic even though we invade other countries. Like there aren't any other wars in any other African states. Anyway, congratulations to Jordin. She's keepin' it real and hope she continues on her road to glory.
The Heroes season finale was really good last night but I can't remember why Linderman and Nathan and Nathan's mom wanted the bomb to go off. I also can't remember why Claire's dad and company were kidnapping the people with special powers and then erasing their memories. But I have to admit the season finale was well done. I didn't expect Nathan to "save the world" the way he did. It was quite an emotional ending. It's too bad Nathan had to die. Adrian Pasdar is damn good-looking. Anyway, I loved Claire too. And I can't remember why they needed the kid Micah. Oh well. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention. It was just taking forever to get to the action and develop the story. The filler stuff was soooo slow. It was like one of those books you read just to know what's going to happen next and how it ends.
Well, back to American Idol, what a corny ass song. Why are the American Idol final songs so freaking cheesy. I like Blake. He's such a cool kid, and he's so talented and innovative. He's got a lot of heart. I like to see real creativity rewarded. But wow, Jordin Sparks does have such a dope voice, and she connects with the audience real well. I actually picked her out of the top 24 as one of my favorites, along with Blake when he sang that Keane song. Damn. I liked Chris Richardson too of course.
I think they both deserve to win for different reasons. They're both talented in different ways and both can sing but they're just different kinds of singers and artists and performers. I think this was actually a very cool final. Last season's final sucked, because it wasn't very competitive. The one before that I preferred Bo Bice over Carrie Underwood. And before that when Fantasia won it was totally uneven, just like last year's. The opening chords of the Chris Daughtry song reminded me of "Every Rose Has its Thorn" by Poison. That was a loooong time ago. The 80's were just the best.

Well, I for one am not surprised that Melinda was eliminated from the competition. She's a good singer, but she basically only performs in one style. And she's not very contemporary at all. American Idol is a pop idol, young and up and coming, and basically a celebrity, someone kids and teenagers look up to and want to emulate. They want someone they can pop into their iTunes. They don't want jazz or greatness, they want someone they can dance to, they want someone they can singalong with, someone they can adore, an "idol." They want the Beatles, not Ella Fitzgerald.
